2016 NOAA Satellite Aerosol Product Workshop
General Attendee Information
If you are driving to the workshop venue, once you turn onto University Research Court, park anywhere in the lot on the right (east side). Parking is free. Walk over to the NCWCP building, which is on the left (west side) towards the end of the Court. In order to enter the building, you will need to show a driver's license or passport to the guard at the booth outside of the building.
The optional hands-on tutorial at 9:00-11:30 AM on September 13 will NOT be in the NCWCP. It will be at 5825 University Research Court, Suite 4102 (4th floor). This building is on the same side of the street (east side) as the parking lot, towards the end of the Court.
If you are staying at the Greenbelt Marriott hotel, there will be shuttle service to/from the workshop venue. The shuttle will leave the hotel at 8:30 AM and pick up from the workshop venue at 5 PM on both September 13 and 14. There is an additional shuttle from the hotel leaving at 12:30 PM on September 13. It is about a 15 minute drive from the hotel to the workshop venue.
Workshop check-in will be at 12:30-1:00 PM on September 13 and 8:30-9:00 AM on September 14. We will have morning and afternoon coffee/snack breaks, and we are providing boxed lunches on Wednesday; you should have made your lunch selection when you registered for the workshop.
Please bring a laptop to the workshop, if you have one. You will use the laptop for the break-out session on September 14.
Note that free wi-fi will be available in the NCWCP conference center during the course of the workshop.
The NOAA Satellite Aerosol Product Workshop for Science and Operational Users is a 1.5-day meeting that will bring together NOAA NESDIS aerosol product developers and members of the air quality satellite user community, with a focus on science (Day 1) and operational (Day 2) data users. The workshop will feature updates on JPSS and GOES-R satellite aerosol products, including information on the algorithms for the aerosol, smoke, and fire products. Science and operational users will present their perspectives on using current VIIRS and upcoming GOES-R ABI products in their research and forecasting activities. The workshop will also include break-out sessions that will allow data users to provide feedback on current operational VIIRS AOT, smoke/dust flag, and RGB imagery on the new NOAA eIDEA website, as well as to discuss emerging issues in aerosol remote sensing. There will be an optional, hands-on tutorial prior to the meeting, providing in-depth review of VIIRS aerosol algorithms, product access/availability, and use of visualization tools (limited to 40 participants).
